Thank you for the information and your Rangers need to be commended for the their fast reaction to the call and the assistance they had with locating the suspect. This is a great example of why they are out in the uptown area and assisting Sedona PD.
The radios in that area are not the best and I am sorry I was missing your call. My phone was in a different room, so I did not hear the phone.

Subject: Up Town Patrol REPORT :SAT 13 SEP 2014
While we were on patrol on 89A, at approx. 1810 hrs., we heard an SPD unit call out a traffic stop at Apple and Jordan. We moved toward the vicinity of the call. We were walking west on Apple at the Sedona Healing Center( Sun Bldg) and heard the SPD officer state a SUBJ wearing Red Shoes, Black Shorts and T-shirt was fleeing from the Vehicle. Figuring all running SUBJ’s head downhill Ranger Lewis and I observed the SUBJ running past THIAS Restaurant heading to the public parking on Mountain view . I called SPD Dispatch on SPD Channel 1 and stated that I was Arizona Ranger 1772 and was in pursuit of the SUBJ heading NORTH on Mountain View. While running I heard the Dispatcher state that he could not hear the unit calling. We pursued the SUBJ running North through a Hotel parking and down the down the Wayside Chapel Steps to 89A. SPD was having trouble with my radio transmissions, so I kept broadcasting our location as more SPD units were responding dispatched. As the SPD units got into uptown they started hearing my Radio calls.
At the foot of the Wayside Chapel stairs, we asked several young Hispanic males at the bottom of the Chapel Steps, if they had seen a running subject, they replied yes, that he ran North on 89A. I was abbreviating my calls to dispatch as” Ranger 1772” as SUBJ heading NORTH on 89A. Figuring the SUBJ would continue to run to cover, we ran across 89A and down into the parking lot of Best Western. We heard someone yelling then we ran back North on Main calling our location. Not seeing the Subject, we continued past the Art Barn and into the driveway of the La Vista Motel. SPD Units were responding and heard my location calls. On the balcony of the La Vista Hotel a white female called down to us to say the SBJ was behind the hedge about 15-20 feet away. . An unknown SPD Officer jumped from his unit and went behind the hedge and apprehended the SUBJ.
As the SPD Arresting Officer brought the arrestee up to the car I opened the back door and the SPD officer placed the SUBJ in the rear of the unit.
SPD is to be commended for their very rapid response and their saturation of the chased area.
Needing water Ranger Lewis and I continued our UTP and walking up to the Best Western, a couple approached us and stated that the SUBJ had run into their open door hotel room. They started yelling and that was the noise we heard earlier in the foot pursuit. They said the SUBJ ran from their room and ran Northbound behind the Hotel. We continued our patrol and found much needed water, Patrol ended and Two (2) hot sweaty and very exhausted Rangers are OFF-DUTY.
